About the Role

Contributes to day-to-day operations in the Whole Foods Market Retail Lab, testing new and enhanced tech solutions for store ordering, inventory management, and retail applications. This role requires executing basic store processes and adapting to shifting duties while supporting WFM core values and goals.

Responsibilities

Execute basic store processes for all teams, including ordering, stocking, production, shrink, and quality inspection.
Support WFM core values and goals, promote national programs, and ensure adherence to health and safety regulations.
Maintain a positive company image through courteous, friendly, and efficient customer service.
Develop a working knowledge of all team-level operations and processes, including ordering, inventory management, and retail application tools.
Ensure appealing displays by maintaining clean and well-stocked cases and shelves, rotating products, and removing expired items.
Complete spoilage, sampling, temperature, and sweep worksheets.
Assist with periodic inventory checks.
Arrive to work on time, appropriately groomed, dressed, and ready to work; attend all scheduled shifts, trainings, and meetings.
Follow and comply with established procedures, including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices.
Maintain a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment; maintain equipment according to WFM standards.
Perform opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned; ensure accuracy of signs and pricing.
Execute basic production needs to ensure in-stock product.
Immediately report safety hazards and violations.
Perform other duties as assigned by lab and Global leadership.
Understand retail, grocery experience, and common software and networking infrastructure.
Guarantee all lab resources follow WFM’s lab standards and guidelines.
Actively contribute to a positive work environment of outstanding teamwork, mutual respect, and exceptional morale.
Execute all SOPs precisely and provide critical feedback on the experience.
Regularly inspect the store to ensure compliance with all programs, rules, and standards.

Requirements

3+ years of program or project management experience.
Experience using data and metrics to drive improvements.
Experience working cross-functionally with tech and non-tech teams.
Able to receive direction and execute testing with new tools and SOPs.
Ability to learn basic knowledge of all products carried in the department.
Ability to learn all basic operational processes in all store departments.
Operates effectively in a fast-paced cross-functional environment to drive clear outcomes and results.
Contributes to local/regional strategy development and ensures appropriate team focus and alignment.
Ability to order and stock product.
Proficiency with email, Microsoft Office, and operations-related applications.
Ability to follow SOPs.
Strong attention to detail.
Strong to excellent communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team.
12+ months retail or similar experience (WFM experience preferred).
Must be based out of Austin, TX.
Ability to physically perform general office and retail requirements.
Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds.
Able to work from ladders of various heights not exceeding 12 feet.
Work requires bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching.
Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals.
Exposure to varying temperatures: <32 degrees Fahrenheit (freezing), 32-40 degrees Fahrenheit (refrigerators), >90 degrees Fahrenheit.
Ability to work in wet and dry conditions.
Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to use tools and equipment, including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery.
May require use of ladders.
3+ years of driving end-to-end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership experience.
3+ years of driving process improvements experience.
Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization.
Experience building processes, project management, and schedules.
