About the Role

Provides leadership, supervision, and operational oversight to the residence, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, person-centered services that promote the health, safety, independence, dignity, rights, and overall well-being of persons supported. Works in collaboration with the Residence Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and supervision to Direct Support Professionals, ensuring adherence to agency policies, OPWDD regulations, and person-centered practices.
  • Manage talent, performance, and progressive discipline for Direct Support Professionals.
  • Collaborate with MAP, nurses, BIS, and other team members to support medical and clinical care plans, meetings, and data for persons supported.
  • Promote community participation, inclusion, self-determination, and advocacy while ensuring coordinated services that support positive outcomes.
  • Develop and retain a strong DSP workforce by providing coaching, mentoring, recognition, training support, and ongoing performance feedback.
  • Identify performance and competency gaps, establish clear expectations, conduct performance evaluations, implement performance improvement plans, and utilize progressive discipline.
  • Respond to requests from S&Q, Centralized Schedulers, DQI Survey, and work with AVP in the manager's absence.
  • Monitor and maintain compliance with program regulations, policies, and standards to uphold quality care and safety.
  • Collaborate and communicate with external agencies, families, and healthcare providers to coordinate comprehensive services and support.
  • Implement and oversee emergency preparedness protocols and procedures, ensuring the safety and well-being of persons supported during crises.
  • Maintain compliance with OPWDD regulations, including documentation standards, program certification requirements, and readiness for audits or site visits.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with individuals, staff, community partners, advocates, and stakeholders to enhance support networks, promote inclusive opportunities, and advocate for the rights of persons supported.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED/Associate's Degree: 5+ years of progressive experience in residential services, including 2+ years in a supervisory or managerial role within a developmental disabilities or social services agency.
  • Bachelor's Degree: 3+ years of progressive experience in residential services, including 1 year supervisory experience.
  • Valid Driver's License from NY, NJ, PA or CT with 6 points or less.
  • Knowledge of Developmental Disabilities: Understanding of the unique needs, challenges, and best practices in providing care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Experience in developing and implementing individualized life plans tailored to meet the specific goals and preferences of persons supported.
  • Familiarity with applicable regulations, standards, and guidelines governing residential programs for persons with developmental disabilities (e.g., Medicaid regulations, licensing requirements).
  • Proficiency in budgeting, financial management, and resource allocation to ensure efficient use of program funds.
  • Assist with handling the budget for the residence for food shopping, recreational activities, and petty cash, including monitoring funds spent on in-house ledger.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with persons supported, families, advocates, staff, and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to respond calmly and effectively to crises or emergencies that may arise in a residential setting, ensuring the safety and well-being of persons supported.
  • Experience in maintaining accurate documentation, including progress notes, incident reports, and regulatory compliance records.
