About the Role
Structural Steel Detailers are crucial to the company's success, responsible for preparing structural steel models, generating fabrication and erection drawings, and ensuring designs meet industry standards. They work collaboratively to meet production schedules while maintaining safety and quality.
Responsibilities
- Prepare structural steel models in SolidWorks, Inventor, and/or Tekla Structures software.
- Generate fabrication drawings and material lists from the models.
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, and project managers to ensure accuracy and completeness of designs.
- Prepare erection drawings for steel erectors on construction sites.
- Prepare shop drawings detailing material sizes, dimensions, welding, bolting, and painting requirements.
- Comply with industry standards and protocols, such as AISC and AWS specifications.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test and be subject to random testing.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Ability to access and navigate all areas of construction sites & shop floor.
- Acceptable visual acuity, either corrected or uncorrected.
Skills
- Experience with SolidWorks or Inventor preferred.
- Experience with Tekla software a plus.
- Understanding and familiarization with the AISC and AWS specifications.
- Excellent drafting, math, and spatial visualization skills.
- Extensive knowledge of CAD/Tekla software and other drafting tools.
- Honesty, integrity, and a strong desire to succeed.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to create and maintain cooperative team building relationships.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
