About the Role

Onondaga Community College is recruiting for a Senior Systems Administrator to provide quality service and responsive end-user support for IT enterprise infrastructure. This role ensures a reliable, available, and secure technology environment supporting academic, administrative, and student computing.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, test, implement, monitor, and maintain servers (Windows & Linux).
  • Administer directory services and manage accounts.
  • Manage infrastructure services such as DNS, DHCP, and NTP.
  • Oversee security and vulnerability management.
  • Manage Microsoft Azure/Entra/365 enterprise productivity suite and MDM.
  • Administer cloud infrastructure platforms and services.
  • Manage the virtualization platform, including hosts, vSAN, vNetwork, and VMs.
  • Manage data storage in a SAN environment.
  • Perform backup and restoration of servers and systems, and disaster recovery.
  • Handle authentication, encryption, and certificate management.
  • Document configurations and manage change processes.
  • Support campus services and enterprise applications in collaboration with other departments and vendors.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with external suppliers and contractors.
  • Provide on-call technical support outside of standard business hours, remotely or on-campus.
  • Provide backup coverage to other IT staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the ITS Leadership Team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university or foreign equivalency and at least five (5) years of hands-on technical expertise.
  • Associate degree from a regionally accredited college or university or foreign equivalency and at least 9 years of hands-on technical expertise.
  • Experience in providing customer services.
  • Three (3)+ years experience with Linux server administration.
  • Knowledge and experience in project management principles and practice.
  • Bilingual in Spanish & English. Bilingual in English and other languages will be considered.
  • Proven ability to successfully operate within a customer service framework.
  • Proven ability to successfully complete multiple projects within scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Experience with operational change and problem management procedures.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as in and embrace a team focused environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Flexibility to adapt and thrive in a progressive and changing work environment.
  • Ability to provide occasional off-hours support.
