About the Role
Under general guidance, performs a full range of non-invasive vascular testing procedures.
Responsibilities
- Ensures facilities and equipment are in optimal working condition, coordinating maintenance and repairs.
- Performs non-invasive vascular testing procedures using Doppler, pulse volume recorder, photoplethysmography, and duplex ultrasound.
- Attends workshops and seminars to stay updated on industry standards and best practices.
- Performs complex studies including post-op graft evaluation, renal artery Duplex study, AVF/AVG evaluation, and Endovascular Duplex study.
- Greets patients, manages patient flow, and assists with patient preparation for exams.
- Obtains documentation, including images and waveforms, for study interpretation.
- Reviews patient identity, history, and requisitions for accuracy.
- Compiles test results for physician interpretation and may provide preliminary interpretations.
- Ensures patient safety and maintains a sterile environment with observed infection control precautions.
- Submits complete, accurate, and timely reports and billing.
- Assists with case reviews, research protocols, and data collection for publications.
- Provides educational resources on non-invasive diagnostic testing.
- Accompanies providers, updates patient history, and inputs data into the practice management system.
- Explains procedures to patients and answers questions.
- Participates in department quality assurance activities.
- Assists with the accreditation/reaccreditation process for vascular testing.
- Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment, and may order supplies or escalate needs.
- Receives supply orders and confirms delivery accuracy.
Requirements
- Approximately 3 years of experience as a full-time vascular technologist in an ICAVL accredited lab.
Skills
- Graduation from an accredited vascular technology program.
- Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT).
- BLS Certification (issued by the American Heart Association).
- Ability to lift equipment and patients occasionally.
