About the Role
The Director, Leadership and Strategic Initiatives provides strategic and operational leadership for the Lawyers and Leaders for a Changing World (LLCW) program at the Henry N.R. Jackman Faculty of Law. This role is responsible for the overall strategy, development, management, and performance of LLCW, a multifaceted leadership development program serving hundreds of students and professionals annually.
Responsibilities
- Provides strategic and operational leadership for the LLCW program.
- Leads the planning, design, delivery, coordination, and continuous development of LLCW's diverse portfolio of programs.
- Ensures appropriate practices, policies, and procedures are in place for effective program delivery.
- Works with students, faculty, staff, leadership, and external partners to develop and deliver programming aligned with Faculty strategic objectives.
- Serves as the primary point of leadership and accountability for LLCW's administration, operations, stakeholder relationships, and performance.
- Develops and implements LLCW's strategic and operational plans.
- Establishes priorities, evaluates program effectiveness and impact, and identifies opportunities for growth.
- Develops, manages, and evaluates the program's budget.
- Ensures operations, policies, and procedures are consistent with Faculty and University of Toronto requirements.
- Has full managerial authority for the LLCW unit, including staffing, hiring, and resource allocation.
- Ensures resources are effectively deployed to advance LLCW's objectives and Faculty strategic priorities.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years' relevant experience in a university, public interest, education or legal setting.
- Demonstrated high-level curriculum design, program development and delivery, and relationship management.
- Experience working with post-secondary students.
- Demonstrated experience managing program budgets and fundraising.
- Volunteer coordination experience.
- Familiarity with and knowledge of current legal issues relating to legal education and the legal profession, and changes in the legal industry.
- Experience in business development, evaluating business opportunities and preparing proposals and negotiating contracts is an asset.
- Successful record of developing, implementing, and evaluating educational programs while integrating best practices of equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.
- Excellent administrative and organizational skills.
- Excellent research skills.
- Ability to research, identify and implement best practices of equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
- Discretion, tact, pleasant manner, and an ability to positively represent the Faculty at all times.
- Flexible with hours based on the demands of the LLCW, its programs, and deadlines.
- Willingness to travel if necessary.

- $106,705 - $124,491
