About the Role

The Operations Analytics Manager will be responsible for chart abstraction, quality improvement activities, analytics, and project management related to care management and transitions of care. This role directs and manages non-clinical operations and services, including staffing and project management. The position also involves developing strategies for effective data analysis and reporting to assist leadership in decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Directs and manages non-clinical operations and services, including staffing and project management.
  • Prepares reports to identify training opportunities for departmental divisions and individual staff.
  • Identifies and reports workflow deficiencies based on workflow review, information gathering, and data assessment.
  • Supports departmental Quality Assurance (QA) activities.
  • Produces weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual comparison QA reports to Care Management leadership.
  • Supports and meets data needs for the development and implementation of strategic initiatives to improve and enhance performance and services.
  • Assists Care Management to meet requests for inter and intra-departmental information.
  • Continually analyzes new and revises specifications for department metrics and process effectiveness.
  • Assesses and validates departmental benchmarks and KPIs, including transitional care programs, discharge planning, managed care insurance distribution, length of stay, avoidable days, and readmission rates.
  • Submits and manages departmental IT requests for quality improvement activities, including tickets and reports.
  • Participates in monthly meetings with IT to discuss ticket activity, deadlines, and updates.
  • Identifies and develops data collection methods using available software systems (Excel, Access, Crystal Reporting, Cerner DA2, Vizient database, Tableau).
  • Works with clinical staff to enhance clinical data capture and analysis for internal and external quality improvement and reporting efforts and mandates.
  • Educates Care Management leadership regarding potential impacts on workflow requirements.
  • Performs gap analysis to identify areas that could benefit from workflow improvement activities and better data capture.
  • Participates in and/or manages collaborative projects with IT and relevant clinical staff to develop mechanisms for capturing data and workflow elements.
  • Performs hybrid medical record review of cases, validation, outlier cases drill-down, and other clinical data abstraction activities to support external quality reporting and quality improvement.
  • Provides guidance and support on clinical and statistical topics to Care Management leadership and other analytical and clinical departments.
  • Generates ad-hoc reports and performs ad-hoc responsibilities as deemed appropriate by Supervisor.
  • Maintains awareness of institutional quality priorities and collaborates with colleagues in Care Management, IT, and hospital leadership to accomplish organizational goals.
  • Leads Patient Experience initiatives, including flow optimization.
  • Develops strategies for effective data analysis and reporting.
  • Provides reports to leadership to assist them through decision-making.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree with project management skills and the ability to work independently.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in Care Management and Transitions of Care operations and/or analytics.
  • 1-2 years’ experience working with grants.
  • Intermediate computer skills including spreadsheet and word processing.
  • Superior organization skills, detail-oriented, and ability to be persistent and follow through.
  • Experience with health care quality reporting and/or interpreting health care regulatory/accreditation requirements.
  • Experience with data visualization tools including Tableau.
  • Strong analytical skills, ability to think critically, effective decision-making/problem-solving skills; strong financial, and quantitative skills.
  • Master’s Degree in health-related field or MBA (Preferred).
  • Clinical chart review and abstraction experience and ability (Preferred).
  • Skill in presenting information to a variety of audiences (Preferred).
  • Experience in collaborative design of electronic health record components (Preferred).
  • Experience working with technical systems such as Cerner Acute Case Management, Navihealth Platform or other transition of care platforms, Tableau and Visio (Preferred).
  • Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance.
  • Complete electronic reference check with a minimum of three (3) professional references.
  • Successfully complete a 4 panel drug screen.
  • Meet Regulatory Requirements for pre-employment screenings.
  • Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).
