About the Role

The ENL Teacher and Coordinator will collaborate with educators, staff, and families to support student language development. This role involves preparing course materials, designing lessons, tracking student progress, and customizing individualized plans. The teacher will implement push-in or pull-out instructional support based on student needs and meet regularly with supervisors to discuss progress and pedagogical goals.

Responsibilities

Collaborating with classroom teachers, special education support staff, administration, and families to ensure students are developing their language skills.
Preparing course materials and designing lessons that cover all aspects of the English language.
Keeping track of student progress and customizing individualized plans for students with special requirements.
Implementing effective ways to push into classrooms or pull students out to work on targeted goals.
Meeting frequently with direct supervisors/administration to discuss student progress and reflect on pedagogical goals.
Assisting all scholars in content area courses, advisories, and electives to reach their full potential.
Planning for students of all ability levels, including English Language Learners and students with disabilities.
Infusing internships, volunteer work, and advanced-level learning to help students make real-world connections.
Collaborating with colleagues to write unit plans and interim assessments.
Sharing teaching strategies, visiting peer classrooms, and analyzing student data.
Developing best practice pedagogy that supports literacy and critical thinking skills across all subject areas.
Employing a variety of collaborative team-teaching models for ELL students and special needs students.
Providing English-Spanish translations for ELL students.
Applying data gathered through formative and summative assessments to guide the instructional plan.
Developing an individual growth plan, including professional goals and objectives, in collaboration with the Principal and/or Assistant Principal.
Utilizing technology, including a parent/student portal and school website, for regular written updates and/or grades.

Requirements

Ability and willingness to incorporate reading and writing into specific content areas.
Ability and willingness to learn how to develop unit plans that prioritize skill development and assessments that measure student progress.
Willingness to integrate technology and/or media in the classroom.
Ability and willingness to learn how to develop interim assessments, analyze student data, adjust teaching practices, and use ongoing data to drive instruction.
Evidence of commitment to continuous professional growth.
Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with colleagues, parents, students, industry partners, and the community.
Highly motivated to teach students from underserved areas and devoted to closing the achievement gap.
Ability to create a classroom setting where students of every academic level experience enjoyment, engagement, and enthusiasm in their learning.
Strong teamwork ethic.
Ability to use data to drive instruction.
