About the Role
The Mishkon IDD Programs at The Jewish Board provide supports and services in a healthy and safe environment for individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities living in residential programs and in community settings. Our core values are to provide a healthy and safe environment that promotes person centered planning, community integration, and close collaboration with families and the community. This is all accomplished through an Orthodox Jewish lens, and with an understanding that staff, at all levels of the division, is the determining factor in achieving positive outcomes for our clients. The Residence Manager is responsible for the effective operation of their assigned Individualized Residential Alternatives (IRA) home(s) or Intermediate Care Facility (ICF) unit(s) serving adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Residence Manager oversees the day-to- day operations and direct care provided to individuals for their assigned homes/units in line with the applicable DOH, OPWDD, CARF and Jewish Board regulations and standards of care.
Responsibilities
- Direct supervision of home/unit DSPs, including formal individual supervision, performance evaluations, and timely feedback.
- Conduct regular DSP meetings, ensuring accessibility for all shifts.
- Participate in recruiting, hiring, performance management, and termination processes.
- Provide ongoing training to direct support professionals and ensure timely completion of required trainings.
- Coach, mentor, and train staff for excellence in service delivery and professional growth.
- Maintain weekly schedules and ensure appropriate program coverage, including overtime and per diem staff.
- Conduct regular site observations, including early morning, late evening, overnight, and weekend shifts.
- Review and ensure timely completion of all required documentation in the HER system.
- Participate in direct care staff ratio coverage as needed.
- Escalate risks and challenges to program leadership promptly.
- Ensure the health and safety of individuals and staff by enforcing internal policies.
- Collaborate to develop and publish community inclusion and integration calendars.
- Oversee daily activities, excursions, and trips, ensuring compliance with religious customs.
- Assist with and drive individuals to medical appointments and community engagements.
- Manage and monitor healthcare appointments using the medical tracker.
- Ensure proper use, maintenance, and availability of adaptive equipment and site safety.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support individual well-being and manage behavioral challenges.
- Promote individual choice, preferences, abilities, and skills.
- Monitor staff logs and shift summaries for quality, consistency, and compliance.
- Enter and review treatment plans, individual notes, and daily logs in HER systems.
- Ensure compliance with OPWDD, OSHA, CARF, DOH, Medicaid, and other regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate and observe monthly fire drills.
- Perform and assist with internal audits, including site observations and inspections.
- Submit work orders for necessary repairs.
- Participate in state audits to ensure residences meet regulatory requirements.
- Oversee timely incident reporting and internal documentation.
- Implement recommendations from incident reports and ensure accurate entry into the Alltrac system.
- Follow compliance guidelines and support the POCA process.
- Develop and publish bi-weekly staff schedules.
- Oversee billing, recruitment paperwork, e-PAF, RTHs, petty cash, and personal allowance accounts.
- Maintain regular communication with families and guardians.
- Attend monthly managerial and IDT meetings.
- Provide on-call coverage during after-hours, weekends, and holidays.
- Respond to emergency calls within 20 minutes and provide guidance or coverage.
- Cover staff shortages or absences to maintain minimum staffing ratios.
- Cover for other managers/residences as required.
- Work at least one weekend day per month.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
- At least 2 years of supervisory experience in a residential or human services setting.
- Familiarity with OPWDD and DOH regulations and policies strongly preferred.
- A valid NYS Driver’s License preferred.
- SCIP-R, CPR or AMAP trained and certified preferred.
- Ability to supervise and train staff.
- Effective leadership and team building skills.
- Ability to apply regulatory standards.
- Be technology savvy.
- Organized and meticulous.
- Strong collaborator.
- Must work at least one weekend day per month.
