About the Role
The Associate Director, Brand Marketing is responsible for bringing the SickKids Foundation brand to life through fundraiser-led donor communications, strategic initiatives, and special projects. This role partners with internal business units, fundraisers, and agency partners to integrate brand thinking into priority initiatives, ensuring communications are strategically grounded, donor-centered, and aligned with Foundation objectives. The position focuses on tailored communications and brand experiences supporting individual donor relationships, stewardship, and priority fundraising opportunities. This role leads, coaches, and develops members of the Brand Strategy team.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic brand support to internal business units and fundraising partners, integrating the SickKids Foundation brand into priority initiatives, fundraiser-led donor engagement and stewardship communications, and special projects.
- Act as a strategic, service-oriented partner to internal teams, identifying opportunities to strengthen brand alignment, enhance relationship-based donor communications, and increase the value of services offered by the Brand Marketing team.
- Develop tailored, brand-aligned communications and experiences to support individual donor relationships, including stewardship, cultivation, bespoke materials, and special initiatives.
- Lead the development of brand assets, toolkits, and strategic materials to help fundraisers and internal partners consistently and effectively bring the Foundation brand to life.
- Create and integrate brand content supporting strategic goals and objectives of internal partners, ensuring alignment with the Foundation’s brand platform, donor audience needs, and business priorities.
- Manage internal and external creative resources and agency partners to ensure high-quality, on-brand delivery of materials, programs, and assets on time and on budget.
- Leverage data, insights, and audience expertise to inform strategies, guide recommendations, and strengthen the effectiveness of fundraiser-led donor communications, stewardship initiatives, and special projects.
- Lead, coach, and mentor direct reports, providing clear direction, regular feedback, and development opportunities.
Requirements
- Degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
- Minimum 7-10 years in progressive marketing and brand strategy roles, with experience in brand strategy, donor-facing communications, creative strategy, media strategy, and digital marketing strategy.
- 5+ years of people leadership experience, including demonstrated experience leading, coaching, and developing high-performing teams.
- Strong stakeholder partnership and cross-functional influencing skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships and collaborate effectively across teams.
- Experience leading creative development and production processes, including working collaboratively with internal creative teams and external agency partners.
- Prior experience at an advertising agency or working closely with agency partners is an asset.
- Strong project management, analytical thinking, and communication skills, with superior attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to manage a large volume of work while thriving in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment.
- Highly proficient in the use of Microsoft 365.
- Experience exploring or applying innovation technology, including AI-enabled tools, to improve marketing strategy, creative development, workflow efficiency, or audience engagement.
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion, with experience applying an EDI lens to brand strategy, storytelling, creative development, and donor-facing communications.
