About the Role
This role supports Nearwater's Risk Retention business, focusing on the accurate and timely settlement of security purchases and sales, repo transactions, invoicing, and reporting. It involves close coordination with custodians, counterparties, and trading teams, and provides back-up support for the settlement process.
Responsibilities
- Communicate with securities custodians to affect purchases of securities, wires, and other related settlement and administrative activities
- Monitor all trade settlements and coordinate with the custodian and counterparties to address any settlement issues
- Confirm security settlements and cash flows with the custodian bank and counterparties
- Keep management appraised of current settlement status and escalate issues as needed
- Coordinate with the accounting team to ensure all required information is available to book transactions
- Ensure invoices are sent to clients on a timely basis
- Work with service providers to ensure regulatory reporting requirements are met
- Monitor bank accounts for incoming payments and follow up with counterparties on missing or late payments
- Provide the trading desk with end-of-day positions
- Support special projects as needed
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent background and experience
- 2–5+ years of direct experience in a financial services organization performing fixed income operations and settlements including trade lifecycle and industry technology
- Familiarity with Enfusion is a plus
- Demonstrate considerable understanding of key operational functions such as Settlements, Trade Lifecycle Management, Reconciliations, Trade Support and Corporate Actions within Global Markets
- Excellent organizational skills and superior problem-solving capabilities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- A team player who is detail oriented, with the ability to operate independently, multi-task and prioritize appropriately
- Experience with DTC, Euroclear, and Fedwire settlements
- Advanced Excel and experience with data-analysis or automation tools (e.g., Python, SQL, VBA, Power BI) to improve reporting accuracy and efficiency
