Responsibilities

  • Develop, prepare, and serve nutritious meals meeting dietary needs and preferences, adhering to regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure meals meet nutritional standards and ordered therapeutic diets.
  • Prepare meals promoting health, safety, dignity, and individual choice.
  • Practice proper sanitation, food handling, storage, and temperature control.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen and dining environment.
  • Clean, sanitize, and properly store all eating and cooking utensils, cookware, and equipment.
  • Comply with universal precautions, infection control, and safe food storage guidelines.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team on grocery lists, menus, and meal planning.
  • Post approved weekly menus in a visible area.
  • Ensure alternative meals are available and documented for individuals with special dietary needs.
  • Provide and display educational materials on nutrition and healthy eating.
  • Order and maintain adequate food, supplies, and equipment.
  • Participate in meetings related to food services, menus, nutrition, and meal preparation.
  • Attend residence events and activities when requested.
  • Maintain assigned dress code, including required personal protective equipment.
  • Perform additional duties to support the health, safety, and well-being of individuals served.
  • Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team in service delivery.
  • Promote and support an environment consistent with Positive Behavior Support plans.
  • Encourage pro-social behaviors and respectful interactions.
  • Support and participate in behavioral support plans.
  • Assist with daily care and cleanliness of individuals, maintaining dignity and respect.
  • Attend and participate in mandatory in-service trainings, staff meetings, and professional development.
  • Maintain compliance with all agency policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform all duties requested by program administration.
  • Provide Direct Support Professional coverage as necessary.

Requirements

  • New York State Driver’s License required.
  • Obtain and Maintain Food Handling certification.
  • Ability to lift up to 25-50 Pounds.
  • Ability to stand for several hours.
  • Must be able to read and write English.
  • Acceptable clearance checks for State Central Register, Driver license and fingerprinting.
  • Compliance with health regulations of PPD.
  • Ability to cook for a large number of people.
  • Obtain and Maintain SCIP-R and First Aid CPR & AED training.

Experience Level

  • Minimum of one-year professional experience.

Education Level

  • High School Diploma
