About the Role

Human Rights Watch (HRW) is seeking two students for an internship with our Development & Outreach Department in the Sydney office. This internship offers students the opportunity to apply skills acquired in school in a professional setting within a large, well-organized, international non-profit organization.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize databases for supporting tasks related to event planning.
  • Support fundraising and outreach events.
  • Collaborate with the team to cultivate individual donors, foundations, and corporations, mainly based in Sydney and Melbourne.
  • Undertake other projects as assigned that match intern interests.
  • Participate in daily Human Rights Watch Sydney office activities.
  • Join weekly HRW staff meetings, online meetings with global development colleagues, and attend external HRW events.
  • Attend lectures, trainings, and professional development workshops.
  • Network with other HRW interns, volunteers, and employees.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled student for the duration of the internship term.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Proactive approach to projects.
  • Reliability with a strong interest in international human rights.
  • Possess valid work authorization in Australia for the duration of the internship.
