About the Role
The Activity Specialist will facilitate workshops for children in grades K-8, ensuring their safety and engagement. The program offers academic support, artistic, athletic, and cultural enrichment, therapeutic services, and family involvement opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Work with groups of 15-20 students.
- Facilitate sessions in dance, music, leadership, sports, ESL, visual arts, and computer.
- Integrate young people’s life experiences and thematic curriculum.
- Create an environment of active and genuine learning using diverse teaching strategies.
- Incorporate career awareness activities, field trips, guest speakers, community outreach, and involvement into projects.
- Write, revise, and implement lesson plans using the DYCD framework for director approval.
- Monitor and report on students’ progress throughout the activity term.
Requirements
- Previous experience teaching/facilitating workshops in one of the subject areas.
- High School Diploma or HSE required.
- Ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
- Attend planning, supervisor, and evaluation sessions.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to commit for the entire school year.
- Must be over 18 years old.
- Highly energetic, dynamic, and positive.
