About the Role
The Academic Change Specialist manages and supports high-level, confidential activities related to the creation, review, and closure of academic programs and units within the University of Toronto Quality Assurance Process. This role involves coordinating academic change, managing complex correspondence for senior leadership, supporting new policy initiatives, and liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Manage and support high-level and confidential activities related to the creation, review, and closure of academic programs and units.
- Coordinate and provide expert advice relative to academic change across the University.
- Manage a large volume of complex correspondence for the Director and Vice-Provost, Academic Programs.
- Support the development and implementation of new policy initiatives.
- Act as a liaison with members of the Provost’s Office, senior academic administrators, staff across all Faculties, and senior staff in external institutions.
- Handle complex issues with multiple participants requiring careful thought, consultation, and action.
- Develop and deliver briefings on decisions, operational issues, and reports.
- Coordinate complex projects and see them to completion.
- Track, manage, and compile information and data.
- Manage multiple deadlines in the context of a heavy workload.
- Resolve issues and respond to inquiries involving sensitive and complex matters.
- Apply good judgment about when to consult before taking action in sensitive situations.
Requirements
- Minimum five (5) years’ recent and related experience in a university environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in undergraduate and graduate program structures, standards, and expectations across diverse programs.
- Knowledge and understanding of University governance processes.
- Familiarity with University structures, Faculty priorities, governance practices, and University policies and procedures.
- Exercises accuracy and attention to detail with confidential information and correspondence.
- Exercises a high degree of sensitivity and discretion with confidential strategic and labour relations information.
