About the Role

The Data Engineer III is a core builder on the Strategic Partnerships team's data platform, responsible for designing and shipping ETL pipelines, semantic models, and supporting infrastructure. This role requires the ability to context-switch between domains, quickly learn unfamiliar data, and deliver reliable pipelines with minimal oversight. The Data Engineer III operates with a high degree of autonomy, owning projects end-to-end from scoping to production monitoring, while also contributing to team standards.

Responsibilities

Build and own end-to-end data pipelines across Fivetran, Airflow, dbt, and Databricks, selecting the appropriate tool for each problem with guidance.
Design and maintain dbt models for the team's semantic layer, ensuring they are tested, documented, and reusable.
Partner with stakeholders across Marketing, Finance, Sales, Legal, HR, and Product to define data requirements and translate them into pipeline specifications.
Contribute to Terraform-managed infrastructure for Fivetran connectors, GCP resources, and AWS components.
Follow and contribute to team engineering standards, including testing, CI/CD, code review, observability, and documentation.
Independently resolve complex ETL and data quality issues, escalating only when architectural tradeoffs are involved.
Monitor pipelines for SLA compliance and participate in incident response.
Apply data governance practices to ensure correct PII handling and compliance with BU-specific requirements.
Communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders and advise on feasibility.

Requirements

4+ years of professional experience as a Data Engineer with demonstrated ownership of production pipelines.
Strong SQL and Python skills, with the ability to write production-grade code, debug complex pipelines, and optimize queries.
Hands-on experience with a cloud data warehouse, preferably Snowflake; BigQuery or equivalent is acceptable.
Solid dbt experience, including building and maintaining models in a production dbt project.
Experience with orchestration tools, specifically Airflow and Fivetran; Dagster or equivalent is a plus.
Experience with Databricks and Spark for custom modeling and transformation workloads.
Experience with AWS (Airflow, S3, Lambda) and GCP (BigQuery and adjacent services).
Ability to work autonomously, scope ambiguous requests with stakeholders, and ship solutions with minimal oversight.
Strong communication skills, capable of explaining technical tradeoffs to non-technical partners and adapting communication style.
Security-first mindset, familiar with PII handling and access controls.
Experience building projects end-to-end, valuing broad competence paired with depth.
