About the Role

We are seeking a Benefits & HR Operations Specialist to manage the operational core of HR, including benefits programs, compliance practices, and supporting systems. This role serves as the primary resource for employee benefits inquiries, ensures adherence to changing regulations, and manages HR tools and data for informed decision-making. It offers significant opportunity for impact through a blend of people, process, and problem-solving.

Responsibilities

  • Lead annual open enrollment, including planning, vendor coordination, and employee communication.
  • Serve as the primary contact for employee benefits questions.
  • Support leave programs (FMLA, parental leave, disability) and guide employees through related processes.
  • Manage vendor and carrier relationships for benefits programs.
  • Benchmark benefits programs against the market and recommend improvements.
  • Process benefit changes and support annual filings and program reporting.
  • Partner with Accounting on 401(k) plan administration.
  • Ensure employment practices align with federal, state, and local laws.
  • Manage required postings and regulatory coordination.
  • Maintain and update HR policies and the employee handbook.
  • Track compliance training and coordinate sessions.
  • Conduct I-9 audits and handle employment verifications.
  • Manage the HR technology stack, including Viewpoint (HRIS/payroll), Lattice (performance management), and Cypher (learning management).
  • Ensure data accuracy and smooth system operation.
  • Document and maintain HR standard operating procedures.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of experience in HR with exposure to benefits administration, HR compliance, or HRIS.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Comfort with data analysis, including pulling reports and identifying trends.
  • Solid proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a genuine interest in assisting people.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, adapt quickly, and collaborate across departments.
  • Experience with HR technology (HRIS, benefit platforms, LMS, performance tools) is a plus.
  • Experience in construction or another project-based industry is a plus.
  • Must be able to work in compliance with company safety policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
  • Repetitively use hand motions for keyboard use and physical use of vision to read computer monitors and paper documents.
  • Regularly use hands to operate standard office equipment.
  • Possess close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to sit at a desk for prolonged periods of time working on a computer.
  • Ability to talk and hear at normal levels.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally.
