About the Role

Provides clinical support and direction for the athletic population and post-surgical patients within the rehabilitation clinic. This role performs a wide variety of duties involving the evaluation, treatment, care, and rehabilitation of patients with athletic, sports-related, or orthopedic injuries/conditions. Additionally, this role has the opportunity to support designated high schools in an outreach capacity and represent Excelsior Orthopaedics at external events as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as a clinical support specialist for the rehabilitation staff, assisting in patient care and maintaining patient flow to maximize efficiency.
  • Provides professional direction and education to all athletes and patients in the areas of rest, recovery, nutrition, and hydration while adhering to standard precautions for patient care.
  • Teaches and monitors athletes on proper and safe lifting/conditioning techniques.
  • Educates patients regarding injuries, reconditioning exercises, and/or injury recovery as appropriately directed by the physician.
  • Participates in health fairs, educational seminars, expos, and other outreach events as needed.
  • Applies knowledge of the general principles of preventative physical care for athletes, first aid treatment and referral, and post-injury rehabilitation.
  • Provides high school athletic coverage as needed.
  • Communicates technical information to non-technical personnel.
  • Assists with maintenance and cleaning of all equipment.
  • Assists with the delivery of the athletic profile and maintenance records.
  • Adheres to all established guidelines.
  • Carries out all other duties as requested by supervisor.

Requirements

  • BS in Athletic Training required.
  • NYS license required.
  • CPR/AED certification preferred.
  • Experience in an educational or clinical setting preferred but not required.
  • Training and relocation assistance available.
  • Requires considerable physical activity including heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Involves standing, walking, and kneeling.
  • Work environment involves some exposure to hazards/physical risk, which requires adhering to basic safety precautions.
