About the Role
St. Peter's Hospital is seeking a full time Anatomic Pathology Tech to join our Pathology team. This clerical position involves preparing daily work assignments, filing slides and charts, answering phones, preparing slides for send-out, gathering slides for conference and consultations, and specimen tracking.
Responsibilities
- Keeps up to date on policies, procedures, skills, and successful completion of competency surveys in a timely manner.
- Able to troubleshoot/problem solve minor/unusual problems in a timely manner.
- Completes required CE.
- Able to access and understand procedure and policy manuals within department.
- Follows SOP for specimen storage/handling/reference lab testing.
- Develops a basic understanding of the operation of all instrumentation/equipment used according to SOP, department policies and procedures.
- Utilizes Copath functions to appropriately track specimens (overdue, pending logs, etc.).
- Utilizes the system to find patient/test information and test results.
- Assists with procedures, small projects, as necessary.
- Completes annual review of lab safety, hazardous material, infectious control procedures.
- Restocks supplies as required.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent Required.
- Excellent organizational skills, detail oriented, and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask, work independently, and adaptable to tasks.
