About the Role
Department 482 Electrical Systems is seeking engineers to oversee the development and integration of electrical/electronic systems for VIRGINIA Class submarines, including camera and light systems, hydraulic indication and control systems, communications systems, and secondary propulsion systems.
Responsibilities
- Develop written correspondence, technical papers, and presentations.
- Manage system/component development, plans, and schedules.
- Create hardware, software, and interface requirement specifications.
- Develop and review procurement specifications and subcontractor statements of work.
- Select components and cables for system integration.
- Support 3D product model development, review, and approval.
- Review associated design products, including drawings and diagrams.
- Review test procedures and reports.
- Develop and review system/component technical manuals and operating instructions.
- Identify and manage system/component risks.
- Manage part obsolescence and lifecycle.
- Perform occasional travel.
- Utilize Microsoft Word, OneNote, PowerPoint, Project, Excel, and Visio for work.
- Engage in electrical system engineering tasks such as reading and writing requirements, reviewing test procedures, and reviewing technical drawings.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering with electrical experience.
- 5+ years of post-graduate engineering experience.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance through the Department of Defense.
- Experience with system or component development.
- Cabling experience.
- Familiarity with Teamcenter / NX.
- Experience with project management and systems engineering.
- Experience with configuration management.
- General understanding of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
- Knowledge of Microsoft Project and Microsoft OneNote.
- Exhibits Rickover Principles.
