About the Role
OHLA USA is offering Field Engineer Internships this summer in New York, Massachusetts, and Maryland. Interns will learn the engineering and technical aspects of projects both in the field and in the office, contributing to building a safer, more sustainable world.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, Foreman, and Crews on Project Deliverables.
- Process and manage material deliveries, ensuring proper inspection for quantity and quality according to contract documents.
- Manage and negotiate subcontractor and material contracts.
- Assist in developing and updating the project schedule.
- Coordinate and schedule shop drawings and submittals.
- Maintain a complete and current record of submittals, approvals, and resubmittals, including a file of transmittal letters and transaction dates.
- Provide high-level involvement in the operations of the cost control system and analysis of construction costs.
- Participate in monthly forecasting of revenue and cost accruals.
- Accumulate necessary data and prepare monthly pay estimates.
- Process and estimate change orders and requests for information as directed by the Project Manager.
- Follow OHLA USA policies and procedures, including safety policies.
Requirements
- Pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Basic knowledge of the construction industry is preferred but not required.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Strong work ethic.
- Ability to function as a team builder/player.
- Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environments.
- Willingness to work in environments with occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and frequent exposure to outside weather conditions.
- Ability to work in an environment with usually loud noise.
