About the Role
This part-time position offers flexibility for individuals seeking to contribute a few hours a month to support victims of domestic violence.
Responsibilities
- Provide coverage for staff, ensuring the satisfactory and safe functioning of the Domestic Violence emergency residence.
- Answer phones and texts, including the Unity House Domestic Violence Hotline and NYS Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault/PREA Hotlines.
- Handle miscellaneous site issues.
- Engage in ongoing victim-centered and trauma-informed interactions with program residents.
- Provide crisis intervention.
- Obtain necessary resources and complete associated paperwork.
- Promote an environment of inclusion and belonging.
Requirements
- High school diploma/GED.
- 1-2 years previous experience working with victims of domestic violence.
- Hotline and crisis management experience preferred.
- Reliable transportation and a valid NYS driver's license is helpful.
