About the Role
The Training Specialist IV reports to the Manager of the IDD and PASRR Training and Curriculum Development Unit. This role works under supervision with latitude for initiative and independent judgment, providing training on Pre-admission Screening and Resident Review (PASRR) processes to Local Authority staff and others. The position may involve presenting in virtual or in-person settings and assisting with curriculum and training material development. It requires researching and analyzing the PASRR process and guidelines, providing feedback for course improvements, and utilizing adult learning techniques. The role also involves seeking continuous improvement in skills and teaching methods.
Responsibilities
- Ensures appropriate curriculum and materials are available for training sessions.
- Facilitates training sessions and workshops for agency customers using professional presentation skills.
- Creates a learner-centered environment in the classroom that maximizes learning opportunities.
- Interfaces with external and internal customers, representing the agency in a professional manner.
- Develops training materials and submits requests and/or suggestions to team leads or manager for training improvements.
- Assists curriculum leads in the creation and/or modification of training materials.
- Reviews and edits materials as requested.
- Attends required train-the-trainer sessions and preparation meetings.
- Provides input and participates fully in training sessions and meetings.
- Maintains documentation and notes to carry out training assignments.
- Maintains and completes all requested training reports, including training rosters.
- Tracks attendee registration, completes travel requests, and other documents.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience working with people receiving intellectual and developmental disability services.
- At least 2 years of experience working in the Preadmission Screening and Resident Review (PASRR) program.
- Must represent the agency with professionalism at all times.
- Must be able to utilize independent judgment and work independently and in teams.
Skills
- Knowledge of the PASRR process, MI and IDD services, LIDDA and nursing facility programs and processes benefitting individuals with IDD and MI.
- Knowledge of adult training principles.
- Knowledge of training procedures and techniques.
- Knowledge of education principles, practices, and techniques.
- Knowledge of learning management and learning content management systems.
- Knowledge of group processes, group dynamics, and interpersonal relations.
- Knowledge of instructional design and curriculum development.
- Skill in assessing changes in policy, processes, and procedures to identify training material revision needs.
- Skill in communicating verbally and in writing.
- Skill in use of computer and Local Area Network, software packages (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Strong writing and editing skills.
- Skill in evaluation, assessment and problem solving.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
- Skill in instructing others.
- Skill in facilitating workshops.
- Skill in the use of a computer and applicable software.
- Ability to interpret complex materials and apply the knowledge appropriately.
