About the Role
The Benefits Analyst will provide group benefits consulting support, including design, financial management and ongoing servicing for existing clients and prospects. This role will work closely with internal consulting teams, interface with vendors, support client deliverables, and ensure quality standards are met.
Responsibilities
- Market new group benefit opportunities to multiple insurance carriers
- Analyze carrier proposals for plan design alignment, and pricing accuracy
- Prepare professional proposal packages and side-by-side comparisons for producer review
- Ensure all new business submissions are complete and meet underwriting requirements
- Serve as primary point of contact with carrier marketing representatives and underwriters for new business
- Negotiate rates, plan adjustments, and underwriting exceptions when appropriate
- Follow up on pending quotes and manage strict carrier deadlines
- Maintain strong working relationships with multiple carrier partners
- Create polished, client-ready proposal presentations
- Develop contribution modeling and cost comparisons
- Ensure proposals clearly articulate the firm’s value proposition
- Collaborate with producers to understand prospect needs and competitive positioning
- Track and manage new business pipeline activity
Requirements
- Minimum 2-5 years’ experience in group benefits
- Knowledge of Canadian benefits industry and group benefits financial underwriting requirements for all types of employee benefits plans
- Sensitivity to confidential information
Skills
- Advanced competency with Microsoft Excel
- Proficiency with Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Strong analytical skills
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Ability to manage and prioritize competing demands in order to meet client and company needs
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
