About the Role

In this inpatient role, you will evaluate and counsel adult and pediatric patients, performing nutritional assessments, developing care plans, reassessing patients, and providing education. You will document all dietary information in the medical chart and ensure care is consistent with hospital policies and HIPAA regulations.

Provide care consistent with the NYP Brooklyn Methodist Hospital’s policies and HIPAA regulations

Requirements

1 year of acute care experience with knowledge of medical nutrition therapy
Bachelor’s degree with completion of an ADA approved internship
Credentialed as a Registered Dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)
Certification by the State of New York as a Certified Dietitian/Nutritionist NYS – certification within 12 months, if the applicant is not registered upon hire
Registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) within 6 months; if the applicant is not registered upon hire, an ACEND verification statement indicating completion of an accredited/approved supervised practice program in dietetics is required
Knowledge of clinical nutrition with emphasis on nutritional needs of the patients
Excellent counseling skills and the ability to relate to a multiethnic community and varied learning levels
Good critical thinking skills to be able to make fast and accurate assessment of patients
All roles require on-site presence
Employees should live within a commutable distance to NYP
NYP will not reimburse for travel expenses
