About the Role

The Fraud Strategy team at Felix is responsible for detecting, deciding on, and preventing fraud across all products, payment rails, and countries. This role will own the end-to-end fraud strategy for a new card issuance program, including authorization decisioning, network fraud monitoring, and building the cardholder fraud lifecycle. The position requires building a new fraud stack from the ground up, focusing on product and action-based controls over static rules.

Responsibilities

  • Own fraud strategy for the card issuance program end-to-end, from pre-launch risk assessment through steady-state monitoring.
  • Translate the infrastructure partner's area-of-responsibility split into an operating decisioning model.
  • Design and own authorization decisioning for card transactions, including approve/decline logic, step-up authentication, velocity limits, and cross-card/cross-account linkage.
  • Own network-level fraud health, monitoring fraud-to-sales and dispute ratios against card network thresholds.
  • Build the cardholder fraud lifecycle, including onboarding risk, first-card-use monitoring, and pattern detection.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering to embed controls into the card issuance and wallet funding/spend flow.
  • Own card dispute and chargeback strategy in partnership with Fraud Operations.
  • Act as the fraud voice in ongoing vendor conversations, keeping the requirements document current.
  • Use SQL/BigQuery hands-on to size fraud exposure, backtest authorization thresholds, and monitor post-launch indicators.
  • Build the playbook for future card product or market expansions.

Requirements

  • 4–7+ years in fraud/risk strategy with direct, hands-on experience in card authorization decisioning (issuer, acquirer, program manager, or processor side).
  • Working knowledge of card network mechanics, including authorization/clearing/settlement flow, 3DS/SCA, network fraud-monitoring programs, and dispute reason codes.
  • Experience working with or evaluating BaaS / program-manager card issuing vendors.
  • Advanced SQL skills for independent risk sizing and analysis.
  • Demonstrated bias toward product and action-based fraud controls over rules.
  • Comfortable building in ambiguity on a 0-to-1 program.
  • Strong cross-functional communication skills.
  • Advanced English proficiency.
