About the Role

The Youth Urgent Care Clinic (YUCC) offers brief, time-limited treatment for youth aged 16 - 24 years in acute crisis related to mental health issues. This interprofessional clinic seeks a Social Worker 2 to provide services, consultation, and support program development within a developmental context. The role involves assessment, acute mental health stabilization, case management, and brief therapy, with opportunities for student supervision and research participation.

Responsibilities

Provide services to youth and their families dealing with acute mental health crises, with or without concurrent substance use issues.
Offer consultation to other professionals within the Urgent Care model.
Deliver care within a model that recognizes unique risks to youth mental health in a developmental context.
Perform clinical interventions including assessment, acute mental health stabilization, case management, and brief therapy.
Support program development and clinical evaluation.
Participate in continuous quality improvement and research activities.
Provide supervision of Master of Social Work students.
Collaborate with faculties of social work on special projects.
Contribute to the development of best practices unique to the social work field.
Teach other professionals.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders for complex client support and shared care.
Support a healthy workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork, and complies with regulatory requirements.
Work some evening hours.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Master of Social Work (MSW) degree.
Minimum of three years of post-graduate, direct clinical experience providing mental health and/or addictions treatment.
Experience working with transitional-aged youth within a mental health and addictions context is an asset.
Proof of registration and membership in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW).
Eligibility for an adjunct faculty appointment with Faculties of Social Work affiliated with CAMH.
Skills and experience in the assessment and treatment of mental health and/or substance use presentations.
Experience utilizing CBT, DBT, and/or MI-informed approaches, including individual and group counselling.
Demonstrated capacity to work with complex, high-risk clients.
Ability to apply best practices to clinical care.
Experience in a psychiatric/mental health setting.
Knowledge of DSM-5 diagnostic criteria, psychotropic medications, psychosocial rehabilitation principles, crisis intervention, case management, and recovery-oriented care.
Excellent documentation, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively within an integrated clinical research environment utilizing standardized data collection to evaluate outcomes.
Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and evolving interprofessional environment.
Knowledge of community resources for transitional-aged youth.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Computer literacy.
Ability to work effectively as a team member within and across services in CYEAP and CAMH.
Bilingualism (French/English) or proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
