About the Role
HB Public Law is seeking a Lawyer or Senior Debt Recovery Lawyer to join their Housing and Civil Litigation Team, focusing on adult social care debts and residential service charges. This role involves evaluating claims, negotiating, drafting legal documents, managing proceedings, and advising on enforcement and insolvency.
Responsibilities
- Manage own caseload and provide practical, solution-focused advice on debt recovery claims and enforcement.
- Work closely with officers and senior management across client authorities.
- Undertake advocacy where appropriate.
- Support and mentor junior colleagues (depending on experience).
- Contribute to training initiatives and help develop best practice.
- Support the team with a wide range of housing and civil litigation work on occasion.
Requirements
- Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive (CILEX) with litigation practising rights, or soon to qualify.
- Experience in debt recovery and general civil litigation.
- Ability to provide practical and commercially focused legal advice.
- Comfortable managing own caseload and prioritizing competing demands.
- Strong communicator with excellent client care skills.
