About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Quality Assurance Service in Lambeth as a Child Protection Conference Chair as part of our improvement journey. Lambeth has been graded Good by Ofsted, with specific commendations on the effectiveness of Child Protection Conference Chairs. We are seeking talented and ambitious individuals to join our team on a fixed-term/secondment basis during our transition and development phase. This role offers the chance to influence our Signs of Safety conference approach, ensuring alignment with the One Lambeth Approach, and to advocate for positive, safe outcomes for children, young people, and families.
Responsibilities
- Chair Respectful Child Protection conferences in person, identify risk and decide upon the need for a child to be subject to child protection plan, to ensure effective decision making about thresholds for child protection and child in need plans.
- Provide professional consultation, advice support and challenge to social work practitioners/ managers on critical child protection decisions, and on care planning for children in care (looked after per Children Act 1989).
- Develop SMART Plans with parents/carers which are outcome focused for children in need / in need of protection.
- Monitor progress of planning between reviews identify any barriers within the wider multi-agency system to the implementation of children’s plan.
Requirements
- A deep understanding of child protection legislation, family court processes and children’s rights.
- Strong skills in chairing multi-agency meetings that bring parents on board and resolve differences.
- Exemplary communication and written skills.
- CV and supporting statement must clearly evidence how you meet the shortlisting criteria on the personal specification marked “A” for application.
- Successful candidates will be asked to apply for an Enhanced Certificate from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
- You will be required to undertake a Cifas check.

Salary/Compensations
- £56,436 pa rising in annual increments to £59,574 pa incl. LW
- Competitive Salary including £4700 market force supplement
