About the Role
The Patient Scheduler ensures the smooth operation of healthcare facilities by managing patient appointment scheduling and coordination. This position optimizes clinical resource use, provides exceptional patient service, and acts as a primary point of contact for patients. The role maintains organized records, supports clinical staff, and enhances patient satisfaction and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and schedule patient appointments across multiple departments and providers, ensuring optimal utilization of available time slots.
- Communicate effectively with patients to confirm appointments, provide necessary instructions, and address any scheduling concerns or changes.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in electronic health record (EHR) systems, ensuring compliance with privacy regulations.
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to manage appointment flow and resolve scheduling conflicts or cancellations promptly.
- Assist in managing waitlists and follow-up appointments to maximize patient access to care and reduce no-show rates.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience in scheduling or administrative roles, preferably within a healthcare setting.
- Basic proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and scheduling software.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and healthcare staff.
- Ability to handle sensitive patient information with confidentiality and professionalism.
