About the Role
Glens Falls Hospital is seeking students, healthcare workers, and entry-level candidates interested in healthcare to join as a Patient Care Associate (PCA). This role offers the opportunity to grow healthcare skills and gain clinical experience by working directly with patients in outpatient infusion centers.
Responsibilities
- Perform all aspects of first-level patient care including promoting hygiene and mobility
- Measure and record patients’ vitals such as temperature and blood pressure
- Respond to patient/family needs and requests
- Assist and support physicians/nurses during routine procedures and treatments
- Report all observations and changes in patient condition to the responsible RN
- Prepare hospital rooms
- Change patients’ bed sheets, pillows and turn or reposition patients in their beds
- Deliver meals to patients and assist with feeding
- Help patients dress and/or assist with toileting needs
- Bathe patients
- Listen to patients’ concerns, record them and report them to a nurse
- Provide patient companionship when needed
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Passion for caring and supporting others
- Patient care experience (preferred, not required)
- Medical terminology knowledge (a helpful plus)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (can be earned after hire)
