About the Role
Utility locating technicians will respond to utility marking requests, accessing records and using specialized equipment to find and mark underground facilities. This role involves daily interaction with homeowners, excavators, and utility personnel, requiring accurate documentation and adherence to company policies.
Responsibilities
- Respond to utility marking requests (tickets) sent via the state One Call Center.
- Access and interpret facility records and plans using a company-provided laptop.
- Use utility locating equipment to find and mark the horizontal location of underground facilities.
- Document performed marking and input information into the online ticket management system.
- Adhere to company policies and customer regulations.
- Interact daily with homeowners, excavators, and utility personnel.
- Participate in a 24-hour On-Call rotation.
Requirements
- No experience required; paid training provided.
- Acceptable driving record is mandatory.
- Background check will be conducted.
- Able to work outside in all weather conditions.
- Able to plan a route using a map.
- Familiarity with computers.
- Able to navigate a computer file system.
- Reading comprehension skills.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Able to walk on varying terrain, including roadside and construction areas.
- Able to lift to 50 lbs. occasionally to access manholes and valve pits.
- Demonstrate the ability to prioritize work and meet daily deadlines.
- Successfully complete the in-house training program.
