About the Role
The Research Data Associate provides direct data and/or clinical research support for clinical trials, studies, and general research under direct supervision. This role involves working with various medical center staff and potentially interfacing with patients, families, and students. It requires excellent communication and organizational skills, an understanding of medical research processes, and a commitment to patient care and the communities served.
Responsibilities
- Utilizes quantitative and qualitative methodologies to collect patient, partner, staff, and/or trainee information for research and evaluation projects.
- Gathers and compiles data, statistics, and other materials as needed.
- Inputs clinical and nonclinical data into the database and/or case report forms.
- Extracts data for publications or provides data collection from outside physicians' offices.
- May perform library searches and retrieve reference materials.
- Ensures protocol compliance by following standard steps regarding eligibility criteria, follow-up process, and documentation.
- Compiles data and assists in consolidating and analyzing data for presentation to sponsoring and regulatory agencies.
- Reviews data with supervisor and provides reports on study progress to relevant parties.
- Recruits and screens potential patients/subjects for study eligibility.
- Interacts with patients/subjects and families in a courteous and professional manner.
- Collaborates with various personnel involved in specific study aspects.
- Demonstrates knowledge of institutional policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements (e.g., IRB).
- Initiates and maintains regular contact with patients, providing visit reminders and encouraging compliance.
- Ensures courteous, effective, professional, and cooperative contact with patients and their families.
- Gathers, properly packages, stores, and transfers slides, samples, and other important materials.
- Coordinates the shipment and transfer of varied types of materials among departments and labs.
- May complete assessments on study subjects/patients per protocol and follow through with study items.
Requirements
- Associates degree plus one year of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Good interpersonal, writing, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to identify, analyze, and solve problems.
- Ability to manage time and work well under pressure.
- Computer literate with proficiency in using various Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Familiarity with Internet applications.
- Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
