About the Role

We are looking for a GL Accounting Manager who brings structure, accuracy, and ownership to our day-to-day accounting operations. Your mission is to keep our general ledger reliable, clean, and ready for decision-making, supporting a smooth month-end and year-end close, ensuring postings and reconciliations are accurate, and helping translate operational accounting into dependable financial reporting. This is a hands-on role for someone who is confident in core accounting work and wants to grow into broader ownership over time.

Responsibilities

Own defined GL accounts end-to-end, including postings, reconciliations, documentation, and follow-up on open items.
Prepare month-end and year-end close tasks such as accruals, prepayments, reclassifications, and balance sheet reconciliations.
Review unclear or unusual bookings, ensure the Chart of Accounts is used consistently, and escalate topics where accounting treatment needs alignment.
Work closely with operational accounting and FP&A so accounting data is timely, reliable, and useful for reporting.
Spot recurring issues, document practical fixes, and help build simple SOPs that make the close faster and more scalable.
Prepare schedules, documentation, and explanations for statutory reporting, tax topics, and external audits across our entities.

Requirements

You are structured, detail-oriented, and hands-on.
You enjoy making the numbers clean, understandable, and reliable.
You take ownership of your workstreams and are comfortable digging into postings, reconciliations, and accounting logic until things make sense.
Good knowledge of German GAAP (HGB) and core accounting principles.
Experience with multi-entity setups is a plus.
Initial experience with VAT-related matters is an advantage.
You are confident with reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, and month-end close routines.
You are comfortable working with accounting systems and Excel/Google Sheets.
You bring a pragmatic, reliable, and detail-oriented working style and are not afraid to follow up until open items are resolved.
You communicate clearly with Finance teammates and non-finance stakeholders in English.
German is a strong plus, especially for invoices, auditors, tax advisors, or authorities.
