About the Role
The Strategic Assessment Intelligence Analyst will conduct strategic analysis of internal and external threats within the financial crime landscape to support informed decision-making for FCA seniors. This role is central to achieving the FCA's objective of preventing Financial Crime by providing insights into threats and emerging issues, offering recommendations to mitigate harm.
Responsibilities
- Conduct strategic analysis of internal and external threats, including scanning, across the financial crime landscape to support informed decision-making for FCA seniors.
- Contextualize and summarize a wide range of intelligence sources to inform analysis.
- Identify emerging threats, risks, and vulnerabilities through comprehensive analysis to guide strategic and tactical prioritization.
- Develop and deliver strategic assessments and intelligence reports tailored to internal stakeholder requirements, as well as adapting such assessments for external partner awareness.
- Generate and gather all-source intelligence to detect and understand financial crime threats such as money laundering, fraud, AI, digital assets, technological advancements, and sanctions evasion affecting the UK financial services sector.
- Create high-quality analytical products tailored to diverse audiences, using appropriate formats and presentation styles to communicate insights effectively.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to enhance threat understanding, share methodologies, and review analytical outputs.
- Build and maintain regular proactive relationships with the analytical community, including identifying opportunities to collaborate on multi-agency threat assessments that have wider impacts on multiple sectors, the UK, and worldwide.
Requirements
- Minimum of SC clearance is required; DV clearance (or a willingness to undertake DV clearance) is advantageous.
- Prior experience and demonstrable ability to analyze complex intelligence and data from diverse sources to draw sound, evidence-based conclusions with clear and effective communication of findings both verbally and in writing; experience to include producing strategic intelligence assessments.
- Demonstrated experience in effectively managing internal stakeholder and external partner relationships.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, including proficiency in Microsoft packages.
- Demonstrable understanding of the digital assets sector and the relevant economic crime threats, including how harm can be mitigated.
- Skilled in delivering analytical insights across grades.
- Experience of working collaboratively in cross-functional teams to deliver intelligence-led projects to progress customer needs.
- Well-versed in the financial services sector and/or UK Economic Crime landscape including current national priorities.
- Demonstrable application of National Intelligence Model principles and relevant intelligence and information sharing frameworks.
- Solid understanding of UK Government, Law Enforcement, Regulatory, and private sector structures, functions, and roles.
- Understanding and application of the PHIA Common Analytical Standards.
- SC Clearance is required for this role; you will hold or will be required to obtain Security Check (SC) level vetting.

- National (Edinburgh and Leeds) ranging from £53,800 to £59,600
- London from £59,200 to £65,000

- The FCA strategy between 2025-2030 commits to 4 key objectives, one of which is preventing Financial Crime, and this function within the Partner & Insights team is central to achieving this objective.
- The strategic assessment team provides a unique insight into the financial crime threats the FCA and our regulated populations are exposed to, offering all-source analysis to better understand new threats and emerging issues and offer robust recommendations to internal stakeholders to better mitigate the threat of harm.
