About the Role
Join Brown Brothers Harriman as a Wealth Planner in New York, supporting the Senior Wealth Planner and collaborating with Relationship Management and Banking teams to deliver integrated trust, estate, philanthropic, and tax guidance to Private Banking clients. This role involves active engagement with the local trusts, estates, and tax community.
Responsibilities
- Reviewing estate planning documents, preparing client presentation materials, and analyzing complex estate planning, tax, trust, and philanthropic issues.
- Serving as a trusted advisor to Private Banking clients, combining estate planning education, analysis, and guidance with assistance on investment and asset allocation issues.
- Acting as a resource for Relationship Management teams and Bankers on trust administration and estate planning matters.
- Contributing to Private Banking business growth through referrals and asset acquisition from existing clients.
- Developing relationships with prospects through value-add advice and guidance to win new business.
- Authoring articles for internal and external publications and speaking at external engagements.
- Building a network within high-net worth communities by participating in legal associations, community organizations, charity boards, and nonprofit events.
- Collaborating with internal teams to plan and execute BBH-sponsored marketing materials and events.
Requirements
- JD required.
- 6-10 years of experience as a practicing trusts and estates lawyer working directly with a high-net worth client base (>$20 million).
- Strong understanding of sophisticated estate planning techniques for high-net worth clients.
- Experience preparing client estate plans using programs like Numbercruncher, Excel, PowerPoint, and eMoney.
- Ability to multitask and independently problem-solve.
