About the Role

The Children’s Ministry Coordinator will provide oversight to all children’s outreach and programs at Korean Community Church, focusing on strengthening and growing programs and attending to the spiritual growth and development of children aged 0 to 14.

Responsibilities

Contribute to the spiritual development of children and their families through mentoring, discipling, encouraging, and modeling Christ-like attitudes.
Pray with and lead children and family members to faith in Jesus Christ.
Follow up with children and parents/guardians on spiritual decisions, building relationships, and guiding children in establishing active links with the church.
Demonstrate pastoral interest in community outreach and build relationships with children and families connected to Community Services.
Cultivate a spiritual and relational leadership style with children, their friends, and their families.
Work as a key member of the church’s Pastoral Team providing pastoral care and oversight for children’s ministries.
Coordinate, maintain, and reimage existing programming for children, including worship, small groups, fellowship, discipleship, and special events.
Oversee the development, organization, and mobilization of a comprehensive outreach ministry to connect children and families from Community Services.
Develop and organize outreach to schools and neighborhood organizations.
Promote, support, and participate in Divisional and Territorial Children’s events.
Prepare and deliver children’s worship services and events in cooperation with the Ministry Unit Leader.
Attend Sunday worship services and participate fully as a member of the Korean Community Church congregation.
Recruit, supervise, orientate, support, and train volunteer leaders for children discipleship programs.
Develop strategies and recommendations for volunteer development.
Prepare, post, and maintain volunteer schedules, ensuring adequate coverage for all program functions.
Ensure compliance with all screening processes for volunteers, including police checks and abuse prevention training.
Handle volunteer complaints and incident reports.
Prepare and maintain written records/logs of activities, including activity reports and statistical information.
Assist in the maintenance of volunteer files and statistical records.
Design and draft promotional material for Children Programs, subject to supervisory approval.
Participate in the development and implementation of policies and procedures for Children Programs.
Communicate empathetically with volunteer teams, congregants, families, and staff.
Maintain frequent communication with children and families using various methods (in person, phone, email, social media, website).
Demonstrate skill in social media applications for advertising and creating videos.
Embrace growing technology needs, post to social media platforms, and develop online communications.
Inform the Ministry Unit Leader of any concerns or issues in a timely manner.
Maintain program storage areas, ensuring organization and safety.
Seek continual education in food safety and health standards, including maintaining Safe Food Handling Certification.
Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures.
Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements

Completed a post-secondary certificate/college diploma program in a related field of study, or 2-3 post-secondary academic years.
Bilingual in English and Korean.
Ability and willingness to provide a valid Safe Food Handlers Certification and First Aid/CPR Certification.
Valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License.
Personal vehicle and insurance required.
Minimum of two (2) years of prior related experience working with children and children programming.
Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Willingness to become a member of Korean Community Church.
Ability to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully.
Willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada.

Salary/Compensations

$44,535.40 to $55,673.80 (pro-rated for 15 hours/week)
