About the Role
The Energy Efficiency Specialist will support MSC Cruises' commitment to energy efficiency across the fleet. This role involves using telemetry data and analytics to achieve fuel consumption savings, reduce emissions, and optimize ship energy profiles. The specialist will advise on optimal ship setup, monitor ship performance, create reports, and maintain data integrity.
Responsibilities
- Develops and manages a knowledge database of vessels showing performance trends.
- Delivers vessel and fleet performance fact-based analyses and recommendations using in-house and external systems.
- Oversees the maintenance, performance, and troubleshooting of onboard sensor equipment.
- Supports the creation of ad hoc technical/environmental reports.
- Maintains the Speed Power tables updated and shares values with involved departments.
- Conducts technical performance investigations to identify opportunities for improving operational efficiency.
- Analyses Sustainability Data for Emission Compliance Regulations and monitors evidence packs for Emission Fleet.
- Validates Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII) data and prepares CII rating reports and analyses.
- Collaborates with stakeholders to optimize vessel performance dashboards.
- Supports the identification of new technologies and systems for the fleet to achieve the Energy Efficiency Strategy.
- Works with the Energy Efficiency Team to manage reports and analysis.
- Manages multiple projects simultaneously by prioritizing effectively and completing them within short time periods.
- Enhances fleet's energy balance, acting as a subject matter expert for data analysis in company projects.
- Works with all departments to achieve common targets and strategy.
- Participates in on-going training and development, regular performance reviews, and monthly one to ones.
- Carries out any other reasonable duties as required by the company.
- Adheres to company and department standards, policies, and procedures.
- Applies company values in all day-to-day activities.
- Understands and complies with health, safety, environmental, and associated legal requirements.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in a similar position with a proven track record of achievements.
- Strong ability to work in a team environment.
- Understanding of analysing data and legislation for practical action.
- High attention to detail across both qualitative and quantitative research and analysis.
- Strong written and visual communication skills.
- Excellent English and communication skills combined with the ability to build a case and present data effectively.
- Consolidated technical background on maritime technology, integrated automation systems, sensors, telemetry, management of faults and troubleshooting.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with office automation systems for data analysis and data presentations.
- Self-starter and autonomous in operational decision making according to Company guidelines and procedures.
- Proficient in documentation and technical manual preparation.
- Able to work with project management tools to manage scheduling and targeting results.
- Availability to work long hours under pressure and over the weekend when required.
