About the Role
Claim Specialists within the Law Department’s Litigation Support Division assist City agencies in complying with discovery obligations in litigation. This role requires proactive management of record requests using manual and computerized systems, and collaboration with internal and external staff for efficient task management.
Responsibilities
- Conduct searches for records maintained in the ordinary course of the specific agency’s business.
- Manage a caseload of varying size pertaining to claims made against the City of New York and specific agencies.
- Monitor all court due dates.
- Ensure that located and produced records are legally and factually accurate to the claims presented.
- Work on larger projects as necessary, following process outlines and providing responses in accordance with project structure.
- Expand responsibilities to include management of other staff as necessary with experience.
