About the Role
Under direct supervision, the Caretaker X will perform duties including driving department vehicles, picking up materials, assisting with building repairs, providing emergency coverage, managing a building service email address, surveying leased sites, supporting electricians with maintenance, conducting surveys and inspections, coordinating repairs, and assisting with conference room setups for NYCHA events.
Responsibilities
- Drive department vehicles to General Services leased sites.
- Pick up materials and supplies.
- Assist in small building service repairs.
- Provide emergency coverage in the event of power, water shutdowns.
- Assist with managing building service email address.
- Survey leased sites for repairs and overview contract repairs.
- Drive department vehicles to multiple NYCHA-leased buildings.
- Support the Building Services Technical Electrician with minor maintenance and janitorial repairs.
- Conduct Crack Unit surveys across multiple leased locations.
- Verify emergency calls and coordinate repairs with Building Services management.
- Conduct building inspections.
- Handle snow emergencies.
- Perform conference room set ups and take downs including NYCHA Events.
Requirements
- Possession of a valid driver's license is required.
- Applicants must have the ability to drive with manual transmission.
- For NYCHA employees: employees applying for transfer, promotional, title or level change opportunities must have served a period of one year at current location and in current title and level (if applicable).
