About the Role
The Deputy Director will assist the Borough Director in directing, supervising, and overseeing Queens Street Maintenance and Improvement programs. This role involves monitoring productivity, implementing quality assurance, evaluating infrastructure needs, and planning annual programs.
Responsibilities
- Monitor productivity of in-house Resurfacing and Street Maintenance forces.
- Implement quality assurance programs to enhance productivity goals.
- Monitor and evaluate the Borough's infrastructure needs.
- Plan the annual resurfacing and capital improvement programs.
- Investigate, inspect, and determine solutions to significant street maintenance problems in Queens.
- Prepare reports for review by the Borough Director and Executive Staff regarding work performed by in-house field forces.
- Monitor, evaluate, and prepare reports on the performance of Capital Milling and Resurfacing crews.
- Attend meetings with and respond to correspondence from Executive Staff, citizens, elected officials, community board leaders, and other city agencies.
- Manage and supervise a staff of supervisory, professional, technical, administrative, and field operations personnel.
Requirements
- Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and five years of full-time experience in inspection, maintenance, construction, or engineering work related to a large scale highway system.
- At least 18 months of experience in an administrative, managerial, or executive capacity or supervising staff engaged in highway system work.
- A valid New York State Professional Engineer's License and 18 months of supervisory, administrative, managerial, or executive experience in civil engineering work related to highway construction or maintenance.
- A four-year high school diploma or equivalent and nine years of experience in inspection, maintenance, construction, or engineering work related to a large scale highway system.
- At least 18 months of supervisory, administrative, managerial, or executive experience as described above.
- Education and/or experience equivalent to the above qualifications.
