About the Role
The Transportation Planning and Management Division (TPM) is responsible for the safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible movement of people and goods on the City's streets. The Research, Implementation, and Safety Unit (RIS) is dedicated to making the streets of New York City safer for all users as part of Vision Zero. This role involves surveying street systems and making recommendations for the placement of speed reducers borough-wide.
Responsibilities
- Conduct data collection and curbside inventories.
- Provide staff support and assist with reviews related to Speed Reducers.
- Investigate data collection of traffic regulations and controls, land use, and street operations.
- Perform data entry, maintain databases, and prepare forms, reports, memos, and logs.
- Work collaboratively and inclusively to contribute to a strong working team.
- Effectively communicate with all stakeholders.
- Ensure adherence to all agency safety rules and regulations.
- Ensure all safety equipment and gear are used and worn properly on the work site.
Requirements
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university with a major in engineering, architecture, landscape architecture, urban studies, planning or mathematics or one of the physical sciences.
- High school diploma or its educational equivalent and 4 years of full-time experience performing technical work on traffic programs and citywide transportation studies.
- Education and/or experience equivalent to the above.
