About the Role
The Bureau of Alcohol and Drug Use Prevention, Care, and Treatment (BADUPCT) is seeking a professional to provide research and data support for the expansion of the Relay program at new hospitals. This role involves supervising Wellness Advocates, monitoring program data, collaborating with colleagues, and participating in leadership discussions.
Responsibilities
- Provide research and data support for the expansion of Relay at new hospitals.
- Conduct research to develop protocols, communications materials, and presentations.
- Provide regular supervision to Wellness Advocates supporting patients post-overdose.
- Review program reports to support data-driven supervision.
- Utilize the program's database to monitor Wellness Advocate cases for quality assurance.
- Collaborate with colleagues to support program reporting requirements and record observations.
- Perform internal auditing activities and assess participant records.
- Participate in monthly calls with ED leadership to discuss program implementation and data trends.
- Lead discussions on ED staff training needs using program data.
- Review resumes, screen and interview candidates, hire, orient, and on-board new Wellness Advocates.
- Conduct new hire and ongoing trainings for Wellness Advocates.
- Work collaboratively with other staff to support program and agency goals.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- A master's degree from an accredited college or university with a specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological, environmental science or public health.
- A doctorate degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological, environmental or social science and one year of full-time experience in a responsible supervisory, administrative or research capacity in the appropriate field of specialization.
- A master's degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological, environmental or social science and three years of responsible full-time research experience in the appropriate field of specialization.
- Education and/or experience which is equivalent to the above.
- All candidates must have at least a master's degree in an appropriate field of specialization and at least two years of experience.
- Two years as a City Research Scientist Level I can be substituted for the experience required.
Skills
- Public health practice experience.
- Experience working across systems to further a public health approach to alcohol and other drug use.
- Experience with programs serving people who use drugs, including harm reduction approaches.
- Budget and/or contract management experience.
- Program monitoring and evaluation experience.
- Quantitative data analysis.
- Ability to read, interpret and synthesize epidemiologic and other scientific literature.
