About the Role

The Accounting unit is responsible for accounts payable, financial reporting, and maintaining financial controls for the New York City Police Pension Fund (NYCPPF). This role supports the Director of Accounting by maintaining investment statements, preparing reports, and performing data analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and reconcile monthly/annual financial reports
  • Perform all Accounts Payable related duties
  • Perform audit procedures to ensure all controls are in place
  • Perform difficult arithmetical computations
  • Monitor and manage cash balances available for investment and recommend investment strategies based on cash needs
  • Present financial reports and various other related projects to management
  • Enter journal entries into the accounting software
  • Participate in annual audit and follow-up with all audit requests
  • Investigate and resolve any variances related to financial reports
  • Assist in the development of policies and procedures to improve unit workflow and efficiency
  • Work on special projects and other ad hoc projects as designated by Unit Supervisor and the Chief Fiscal Officer (CFO)

Requirements

  • High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above
  • Education and/or experience which is equivalent to the above
