About the Role

The Office of the District Attorney, Bronx County seeks an experienced and enthusiastic Trial Preparation Assistant, Level II (TPA II) to assist Appeals Bureau Assistant District Attorneys with post-conviction matters, focusing on public safety and equal justice.

Responsibilities

  • Assist attorneys with all aspects of filing motions and briefs, including proofreading, cite-checking, and generating Tables of Contents and Tables of Authorities.
  • Format and prepare documents for filing in compliance with court rules and bureau guidelines.
  • Draft procedural motion responses under attorney supervision.
  • Prepare exhibits and appendices for legal documents.
  • Maintain and update internal digital files.
  • Communicate with defense attorneys and courts regarding cases.
  • Fulfill defense requests for exhibits.
  • Write elementary legal briefs under attorney supervision, time permitting.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above.
  • Education and/or experience which is equivalent to the above.

Skills

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively under deadlines.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced and changing environment.
  • Attention to detail.
