About the Role
The CPRU Specialist performs outreach, administrative, and analytical duties related to client fair hearing requests concerning Agency decisions affecting benefits. This role involves preparing documentation for administrative hearings and resolving client cases.
Responsibilities
- Review and analyze Fair Hearing Requests to determine case resolution or packet preparation.
- Analyze databases (WMS, POS, New York City Way, etc.) to verify action accuracy or identify defective notices.
- Correct resolvable cases and utilize the FHEMS system to route cases to appropriate units.
- Prepare electronic Fair Hearing evidence packets using the FHEMS system.
- Communicate with Fair Hearing Representatives to ensure packet completeness and document resolutions.
- Conduct client outreach for cases requiring follow-up to determine resolution.
- Explain the fair hearing process to clients and gather necessary information and documentation.
- Ensure client-provided documentation is received and incorporated into case files.
- Monitor and review FHEMS queues for timely completion of work.
- Consult with supervisors regarding workload and case actions.
- Stay updated on Agency Policies, Procedures, and FHEMs system changes.
- Notify Job Center staff of required actions for case resolution.
- Respond to inquiries and complaints from external agencies, officials, and central operations.
- Send resolution letters to clients for resolved cases.
- Communicate with Fair Hearing Representatives regarding evidence packet quality and additional documentation needs.
Requirements
- Permanent in the Associate Benefits Opportunity Specialist title.
- A four-year high school diploma or equivalent.
- Three years of full-time satisfactory experience in social/human services or a related setting, providing client services or employment planning/counseling.
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college plus eighteen months of full-time satisfactory experience as a Benefits Opportunity Specialist.
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college plus eighteen months of full-time satisfactory experience in social/human services.
- College credit may substitute for experience at a rate of 60 semester credits for 9 months of experience.
- All candidates must have at least 18 months of full-time satisfactory experience as a Benefits Opportunity Specialist or in social/human services.
