About the Role
In this role, you will aid patients by escorting them throughout the hospital grounds and transport medical records and materials to various stakeholders and departments. Your work will impact patient experience and support team members throughout the organization.
Responsibilities
- Transport patients by wheelchair, stretcher or bed, with or without special equipment.
- Accompany ambulatory patients in a safe and efficient manner.
- Maintain and change oxygen and gauges daily.
- Transport specimens, O.R. schedules, and other items with a 20-40 minute turnaround time.
- Compile all appropriate statistics daily.
- Stock, clean, and upkeep equipment needed for patient transport.
- Carry patient articles from one unit to another during transfers.
- Direct patients/visitors to their destinations.
- Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work environment.
- Provide instruction to New Vision Students.
- Responsible for the ongoing repair and maintenance of the Department wheelchairs and stretchers.
- Train new employees.
- Assist the Director of Distribution as needed.
Requirements
- Minimum of high school diploma or GED required.
- Excellent positive communication skills & customer service.
- Able to read & interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Able to learn & use computers and printers to utilize clerical skills.
- Able to recognize and select correct course of action in all segments of transportation.
