About the Role
The Management and Budget Department (MBD) is a collaborative team of approximately 25 members responsible for coordinating the agency’s annual budget, leading financial performance reviews, analyzing resource requests, and managing the enterprise budgeting system. This role offers in-depth knowledge of the agency’s financial structure and processes, providing extensive opportunities for a long-term career.
Responsibilities
- Review and analyze assigned departments’ annual Budget submissions in coordination with client Staff Departments to ensure alignment with Budget targets, planning guidance, and agency priorities.
- Review, evaluate, and present monthly financial performance results to ensure financial integrity and alignment with the Budget, identifying emerging trends in agency business models.
- Review and analyze resource requests and prepare recommendations based on agency authorization documents to ensure the highest and best use of agency resources and consistency with the approved Budget and agency priorities.
- Verify department Budget submissions are properly consolidated in the agency’s enterprise Budget system—BudgetPro—to prepare the annual Budget Book and other Budget presentations.
- Coordinate with various Departments to develop Budget recommendations, ensure accurate accounting transactions, and monitor the impact of economic conditions on revenues and expenses.
- Participate in RFP committees, task forces, and other special projects to represent the agency’s financial interests.
Requirements
- Ability to identify and analyze financial issues and recommend solutions or alternatives.
- Excellent oral and written presentation skills, with the ability to present and discuss financial information clearly and concisely.
- Detail-oriented in developing financial spreadsheets and summarizing results, implementing robust quality controls and ensuring financial accuracy.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for analysis, tracking, persuasion, or recommendation.
