About the Role
Peraton supports the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) mission by engineering, operating, and modernizing a nationwide data center portfolio. Our team provides full-lifecycle data center and cloud engineering, 24x7x365 operations and monitoring, and facility infrastructure reporting. Your work will directly impact the systems Veterans depend on for care and benefits.
Responsibilities
- Design and evaluate data center electrical, power, cooling, and mechanical infrastructure supporting capacity, availability, and resiliency requirements.
- Produce and review one-lines, load calculations, short-circuit / coordination / arc-flash inputs, mechanical schematics, and cooling plant layouts.
- Support Assessment & Recommendation Reports across VA facilities.
- Coordinate with CFD and DCIM engineers to align electrical/mechanical decisions with thermal and telemetry realities.
Requirements
- Currently possess or be able to obtain VA Public Trust — High Risk (BI High) / Tier 4 background investigation.
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering; 5+ years of data center or mission-critical facility engineering experience.
- Master's degree substitutes ~2 years of required experience; Ph.D. substitutes ~5 years of required experience.
- In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, 4 additional years of relevant experience is acceptable.
- Associate's degree + 2 additional years also accepted for equivalent professional levels.
