About the Role
Peraton supports the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) mission by engineering, operating, and modernizing a nationwide data center portfolio. Our team provides full-lifecycle data center and cloud engineering, 24x7x365 operations and monitoring, DCIM platform administration, analytics, and facility infrastructure reporting. This role is crucial for ensuring the systems Veterans depend on are reliable and efficient.
Responsibilities
- Perform CFD and thermal simulations to evaluate airflow, cooling, temperature distribution, and equipment operating conditions within data center environments.
- Author simulation reports and recommend containment, tile, and cooling configuration adjustments.
- Integrate DCIM sensor and BMS telemetry inputs into modeling scenarios.
- Support the Senior CFD Engineer on portfolio-level thermal analyses and design reviews.
Requirements
- Currently possess or be able to obtain VA Public Trust — High Risk (BI High) / Tier 4 background investigation.
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in Mechanical, Aerospace, or a related engineering field; 5+ years of CFD or thermal modeling experience.
- Master's degree substitutes ~2 years of required experience; Ph.D. substitutes ~5 years of required experience.
- In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, 4 additional years of relevant experience is acceptable.
- Associate's degree + 2 additional years also accepted for equivalent professional levels.
- Working proficiency with TileFlow or equivalent CFD software.
